Why should I get in contact?

The experience of having one’s life story professionally recorded to video is still unique to most people. We welcome the opportunity to talk personally with each customer in order to address any individual questions.

How long does it take before someone gets back in touch with me?

We try our best to respond to any inquiry within one business day, so please leave us the appropriate contact information and we will respond as soon as possible.

I'm not sure my story is suited for a video -- how do I know?

Your story is more important than you may realize and is certainly suited for a video. Contact us and we can discuss how best to begin the process with your story!

Where is Your Stories on Video located?

We are based in Dallas, Texas, USA, but we provide services world-wide.

How much influence do I have over my video?

You have complete control over the content of your video. We provide professional writing and editing, but you will always have the final say. Have a look at our website for more information about the process.

How long does the process take?

The time it takes to create your video depends on various factors, the most influential being the length of your story. Throughout the process, many customers find that they have more to include in their video than they initially thought and want to make adjustments to their package. Depending on the package you choose, the process will typically take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

Can I upgrade my package after I've paid?

Of course!

Who is the "Client" and who is the "Subject"?

The person who contacts us and more than likely ends up paying for the service is the client. We take every concern and requirement the client has into consideration when making the video about the subject. That means the subject is the person who the video is about! Sometimes the client and subject will be the same person, and sometimes they’ll be completely different people. Either way, we’re here to help!

How much of my time or my loved one's time is involved in making the video?

This depends on whether you are the client or the subject. We will spend approximately one hour talking with the client before we make any contact with the subject. Then it's up to the client whether or not they want to be present during the interview of the subject. We've found that most clients do not want to be around. They want to be amazed and entertained when they see the finished video for the first time!

We will then spend another hour pre-interviewing the subject over the phone or Zoom to formulate the best list of questions to ask during the recorded interview. Once the time has then been set to conduct the interview, the videograhper will spend on average about three to four hours at the subject's home interviewing them. This time includes set up and tear down of all of the equipment. The subject should definitely talk with the videographer when they call if there are any timing concerns.

Who conducts the interviews and how long will they last?

The pre-interview with the writer will last anywhere from one to two hours. Then the actual recorded interview will last on average about three to four hours at the subject’s home. This time includes set up and tear down of all of the equipment. That’s it! Let us work our magic from there to produce your quality video.

Do you shoot and record commercial videos for companies such as commercials or advertisements?

We only specialize in telling people's stories. However, if you have those type of commercial needs, please contact us and we might be able to direct you to the right company!

Is it possible to allow family members to be part of the video?

While it is possible to allow family members to participate in the interview process, it may require more of the company’s time and can increase the cost of your video. We do have very affordable spouse and sibling add-ons, but adding on someone that has a completely different story would require much more time.

How do I know if you have a videographer in my area?

We have working relationships with hundreds of videographers across several continents. In fact, we guarantee that if we can’t find anyone in the United States, we’ll fly someone to you at no extra charge. Outside of the United States, contact us for rates. We feel that passionately about preserving your stories for many generations to come.

Is it possible to divide my stories into several videos?

Definitely! Let’s get in touch and talk about the best way to divide your story.

What if the smallest package (Gold) is too big for my story?

Many customers find that there is actually more to remember than they anticipated. Often customers choose to upgrade to the Gold Package when they realize how much there is to remember and capture. We work with both the client and the subject closely to make sure that all of those cherished memories are put on video!

What if I want to pause my project?

We know that sometimes life gets in the way or things come up unexpectedly. Our goal is always to help you complete your video. If something happens please inform your Account Manager as soon as possible. You can see in our Terms and Conditions that projects can pause progress for up to 30 days without penalty.

What if I want to cancel?

We’re sorry to hear that! If you would like to cancel your project please read our Terms and Conditions to see if you are eligible for a refund. Please contact your Account Manager directly to start the cancellation process.

How many corrections do I have?

After you receive your rough cut of the video, you have one round of corrections. We advise that you take the time to go through your video and make sure you are happy with it before we burn the DVDs. If you change your mind and would like to make more changes in a further round of revisions, just let your Account Manager know and they can provide you with a quote.

Who owns the copyright of my video?

The easy answer is you do! The more complicated answer is that from the time that we have created your video and put it into a “tangible form,” the video is legally yours. This applies to a file on your hard drive or a file uploaded to the Internet. A video is protected by copyright law from the moment of its creation.

You have the option to have us register the work with the Copyright Office, but this is not a legal requirement. Although registering your video with the U.S. Copyright Office isn’t necessary or required to have it covered by copyright law, it is a good idea to take the extra step to protect it if you have concerns.

If you would like us to register the video for you, there is a $100 fee. However, we provide a “Certificate of Copyright” to everyone free of charge.
